STALKING SKETCHES Amhuinnsuidhe in the 1880s (and a few more.)
year:
2009
description:
46 ink sketches and coloured plates, with the artist's notes and comments, some of them very amusing. Introduction by the late the Honourable Ronald Eden. Bound in top quality cloth binding, gilt titles and gilt stag decoration on upper cover. Coloured dust wrapper. Landscape format. Limited to 300 copies only, and signed by the publisher. This new collection of Crealock drawings was discovered by me several years ago, and at the time I decided to scan all the pictures, add a few more, and publish another Crealock title. Most of the sketches were produced on the back of Amhuinnsuidhe notepaper while he was staying as a guest of the owner of the time - Sir Edward Scott, a London banker. This is the first time a Crealock sporting title has been produced with coloured plates of his sketches. It is a wonderful insight into the sporting life of the time. Limited edition of 300 copies, of which numbers 1 to 24 are bound in full morocco, gilt, with original pencil sketch by Ian Oates. The size is oblong 4to, and produced to a very high quality, with maroon buckram binding, gilt stag and title on upper cover, and a dust jacket in colour by Crealock. David G
