Lord Lilford always had proof plates sent to him for approval; it was his custom to have these bound in half leather, usually with his book plate. This volume has the plate of Colonel Hanbury Barclay - a major collector of ornithological works. I acquired some years ago a volume of proof plates for Lilford's "Coloured Figures of the Birds...." with Lilford's bookplate.
