SCHUYLER, Eugene.
TURKISTAN. Notes of a journey in Russian Turkistan, Khokand, Bukhara and Kuldja.
1876
Two volumes. Many illustrations in text, full page plates, maps etc. A remarkable copy of this scarce work; only the first 72 pages of volume 1 have been opened, the remaining pages in volume 1 and 2 are still totally unopened, thus remain unread. Original pictorial gilt cloth; the corners are a bit bruised, with one frayed. The contents are very clean, with the minimum of foxing. An extensive treatise of nearly 900 pages. This is dated 1876 - the year of the first edition, however the title is printed "5th edition". These early UK editions (Samson Low) are rare; but the USA editions issued by Scribner are more common.
