David Grayling Fine Sporting Books: specialist in fine, rare, antiquarian and secondhand books - particularly books on fishing, salmon fishing and trout fishing
The first facsimile of the original work of 1577; at this time, the author had not been identified, and this edition was produced by Princeton University, U.S.A.. Bound in decorated vellum with leather spine label, and lacks its silk marker. A very good copy. The rarest of angling titles, this was originally "discovered" by Edgar Chalmers-Hallam, the leading angling specialist of the 1940s and '50s. It is the work from which Isaac Walton cribbed/plagiarised to write his "Compleat Angler" in 1653.
