Partially hand-coloured frontispiece a fishing scene (coloured) and 12 species of fish (uncoloured). Title with wood engraving of angling scene; lower inch of title cut away, not affecting text. Original printed wraps, with oval woodcut of angling scene on front cover, and publisher's list of titles on rear cover. Last leaf of text (35/36) has corner damaged by damp, partially removed, but not affecting text; this also has affected rear cover affecting 4 letters of text. Bound in late 19th century quarter morocco, with gilt title and float and fish emblems. A very good copy of a rare angling item. Not in Westwood & Satchell or Coleby. This appears to be a later provincial printing of a similar title, first published by W. Mason, London [1813]. See Bonham's "Angling Library of John Simpson" catalogue, pages12 & 13, lots 18 to 22.
