He wrote this while in the British Military Hospital, South East Asia Command, after being pursued in the jungle for many weeks, and his fellow fugitive dying. The most delightful and beautifully written narrative hunting poem I have ever had the pleasure to read - in my opinion far better than Masefield's "Reynard the Fox". I re-published this in 1991, after tracking down the author, who lived in Wiltshire. David Grayling.
