BRYDEN, H.A. (Editor)
THE GREAT AND SMALL GAME OF AFRICA. An Account of the Distribution, Habits, and Natural History of the Sporting Mammals, with Personal Hunting Experiences.
1899.
Fifteen hand-coloured plates. Numerous photogravure illustrations. An excellent copy in the original green cloth; a very small area of the top upper corner of the front cover has been neatly nibbled by a mouse, it also - neatly and small again, in fact hardly noticeable - nibbled top corner of the page edges. The contents are fine, bright and tight. Large thick quarto. I have photographs of the mouse damage for interested parties.
Limited to 500 numbered copies, signed by the publisher - Rowland Ward. Mendelssohn, volume I, page 212 - "This magnificent volume is the most complete work on the wild mammals of Africa....." Contributors include Sir Harry Johnston, F. Vaughan Kirkby, R. Lydekker, A.H. Neumann, F.C. Selous, A.E. Pease, H.G.C. Swayne, H.A. Bryden and many others. 632 pages. One of the finest works on African game ever published, which also contains hunting stories by many of the contributors.
